Tried a clean boot with no startup apps and no non-MS services, no difference. Reinstalled updates, installed Live Mail 2011 which updated app to latest version and no change. Rolled back most recent Windows updates and no change. wlmail.exe is NOT in the task manager list of current processes. This is the same directly after a reboot or after trying several times. Now when I click on the icon in the taskbar, or in c:\program files\Windows Live\Mail\wlmail.exe I get a Windows wait icon (spinning blue circle) for a few seconds and then nothing. Windows Live Mail used to work fine, send and receive emails etc. and all other patches (except one for PPT 2007 which is no longer in use since upgrade to 2010)
